Abstract

The structure and functions of caste have been deeply rooted in Indian villages and urban societies. The discussions, on caste, have been a highly significant and contentious topic of academic inquiry for numerous years. The objective of this paper is to offer a theoretical and practical understanding of caste inequality in living tradition in India, emphasizing its dynamic character and the intricate challenges it poses in Indian society. In present-day India, there exists a dynamic interplay between traditional caste identities and the influences of globalization, urbanization and modernization. The present study employs the library research methodology. Utilizing library research is an essential tool for scholars seeking to have a deeper comprehension of a specific topic matter. The method presents a systematic and structured approach to gathering and analysing information. It assists academics in uncovering innovative paths for their inquiries or promoting new ideas or theories in their field. The present study finds that the creative dynamics of the caste system continues to exert significant social influence and impact the lives of individuals as well as affecting their opportunities for education, gender, identity, employment and political participation. Notwithstanding the implementation of legal frameworks aimed at eliminating caste-based discrimination, there are still prevailing social and economic inequalities that result in ongoing marginalization.
