Factors influencing creativity dispositions of innovators with patents: a structural relationship model

Abstract

Innovators are considered of very importance person in the field of creativity due to their original products. The creativity disposition (CD) is as crucial an influence on their work, but little is known about factors that influence it. Therefore, this study explored the level of family autonomy support (FS), working autonomy support (WS), and motivation (MO) for innovation development and CD to estimate the impact of factors that influence the CD among innovators with patents. Stratified random sampling was used to obtain 243 samples of innovators who licensed patents with the Department of Intellectual Property, Innovations, Thailand during the 15 years previous to this writing. Measurement instruments consisted of one preliminary (demographic) questionnaire and four scales. Data were examined by Pearson product moment correlation and path analysis. Averages of FS and CD were found to be high, while averages of WS and MO were moderate. Consistency index statistics indicated that the developed model was consistent with the data. Study results indicated MO’s important role as both a direct effect and as a mediator variable of FS and WS through CD. Directors of organizations should recognize and apply this finding to discover methods to enhance innovators with patents’ CD.
